Remote Autonomous Zone Nodes with SCADA IO features.

Raveon’s Remote Autonomous Zone Node (RAZN) is a smart Slave Device for use in remote areas and connecting to your network. The RAZN is a Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) used to monitor and control a variety of devices and systems. An RTU is similar to a programmable logic circuit (PLC) but has more in-depth functionality. A key component of a the RAZN is the ability to send and receive real-time data.

Raveon’s Unique Features for SCADA Applications

  • Long Range. Coverage typically covers 10-100 square miles ( 16 to 160 square kilometers).
  • Remote status monitoring including DC voltage, packet error statistics, modem “up time”, and receiver signal strength.

  • Lowest current draw in industry. Most Raveon wireless modems draw less than 90mA when fully operational, and some are less than 80mA.
  • Wide input voltage with high-efficiency switching voltage regulator.
  • Packetized AND Streaming Data. Integrated Packetized data protocol with error correction and built-in Streaming Real-Time operation. User selectable.
  • Capable of store-and-forward repeating operation.
  • Small size. Extruded aluminum enclosure is small, and very rugged.
  • 16 bit addressing for up to 65,525 different unique device addresses per channel. Radio channels may be shared with no interference between users.
  • Supports group and broadcast transmissions. Network mask allows groups of any size.
  • Easily to configure. Modems are configured using “AT” commands through the modem’s serial port or by using Raveon’s Windows-based Radio Manager configuration program. There is no need for a separate serial link to the modem to configure or manage it.
  • RS-232 serial input and output. Programmable serial baud rates up to 115400 make the FireLine compatible with most every PLC, PC, and HMI device made.
  • Programmable over-the-air data rates. YOU can choose how your system will work. Set the OTA data slower for extended communication range, or set it fast for lowest latency. Your choice.

SCADAcomm:  The SCADAcomm software app is a free open source tool for experimenting and using MODBUS messages to communicate with slave devices that utilize MODBUS messages such as Raveon’s GPIO and FIO slaves. See AN230(ModbusMx) for information about MODBUS.

Serial IO.  Raveon modems have many serial IO options. For more information about the pros and conns of various serial communicatoin methods such as RS232, RS484, RS422, USB, and Ethernet see Application Note AN236.

SCADA PRODUCTS

Remote Autonomous Zone Node  RAZN

A Remote Autonomous Zone Node (RAZN) is for smart SCADA and Telemetry node with general purpose control capability.

It is a compact, cost-effective package. RAZN can switch on/off 8 AC and DC power outputs, and convert up to four analog devices, 8 digital inputs, and 2 switch inputs.

SCADA communication options are:  Ethernet/IP or Modbus-TCP.
Wired communication options are:  Ethernet, RS-485, RS-232.
Wireless communication features:   VHF(150-174MHz), UHF(450-470MHz), VHF MURS,, License Free ISM band (902-928MHz) (863-870MHz)

This is an RTU and has many more IoT and wireless features than most traditional RTUs.

These RAZN RTUs have a myriad of IO features for monitoring inputs and controlling outputs.

M55-E Ethernet TCP/IP Data Radio

This data radio has a TCP/IP Ethernet interface for long radio wireless communications.

The RV-M55-E  has Ethernet terminal ports on it, and and RS-485 interface.

Ethernet interface to wireless data, using TCP/IP terminal ports.

Wireless Ethernet links to RTUs, Data Radio modems, or to the RAZN products.

This can be a Base Station to communicate to a RAZN or SCADA devices.

Tech Series Wireless Radios

M7 Wireless Modems for SCADARaveon’s Tech Series M21 radios have Range capabilities of up to 50 miles for GPS tracking, data communications and SCADA. The M21 also has an even faster turn around time then the M7, and an interchangeable front I/O panel. The M21 has a new power connector that is rugged and water sealed.

Built into this product are SCADA and Telemetry commends to control and read the IO pins. A MODBUS option is available so MOSBUS protocol can be used to manage the GPIO interface and IO pins on other interfaces.

General Purpose IO  GPIO

      The Tech Series GPIO version of the RV-M21 and RV-M22 series radio modems is ideal for SCADA and telemetry.

Here is a summary of the standard IO features.

GPIO Pins: TTL Digital Input, Analog voltage measurement, Switched DC power output, Open Drain switches.

RV-M22 Miniature Tech Series

The RV-M22 Tech Series radios are miniature low-power long range radio modems for SCADA communications.

The Tech Series comes with a myriad of front interface options.
Serial ports and RTU IO terminals.

The RV-M22 miniature low-cost data radio can be used on VHF bands, UHF bands, or License Free ISM band 915MHz.

RV-M25 Battery Powered Waterproof

The RV-M25 has a Myriad of IO features in a waterproof data radio, to use outside to monitor sensors.

Waterproof  with Internal Battery, the RV-M25 is a waterproof Data Radio similar to Tech Series for working

Outside to Get General Info.(OGGO)  The RV-M25 technology information is on it’s OGGI web page. .

It has SCADA GPIOs IOs and MODBUS protocol.  The IOs can do Analog, voltage, 4-20mA sensor monitoring, digital IOs, AC/DC Switched Voltage output.

The internal data radio can be used on VHF bands, UHF bands, or License Free ISM band 915MHz.

Store – And – Forward  Repeaters

All Raveon data radio modems have a Store-Forward Repeater feature.  Repeaters receive and re-transmit data. They are able to transmit signals over large distances, even with the presence of a physical obstruction. All Raveon data radio modems have Store-And-Forward repeater features.  One repeater can typically cover 20-200 square miles.

Repeaters enable you to send wireless data to very remote areas that cannot be directly communicated to from the Master Controller’s location. Repeaters can help cover any area.

Store-And-Forward Repeater functions in radio modems can be configured as smart repeaters.

Each storeforward repeater can be setup to repeat messages to groups of certain RTUs and not repeat messages to others.

A “to-repeat” table is in each modem to specify the IDs of the messages to repeat. The repeater monitors the IDs of the modems connected to the  RTU to determine if message to it should be repeated.

Repeaters can be configured to not repeat duplicate messages, and only repeat a message once. When this feature is used, a system can have multiple repeaters, that don’t fight with each other.

RAZN RTU can wirelessly monitor the Sensors to Monitor  and also control anything many miles away.
