Wireless SCADA is required in applications when communications with wires to a remote site is prohibitively expensive or it is too time-consuming to construct. Wireless SCADA systems are easy to install and communicate to hundreds of devices with very little wire.  In some types of industry such as Oil & Gas or Water & Wastewater, wireless SCADA is often the only solution for remote sites.

Wireless SCADA systems can be built on a private radio network, cellular, or satellite. system. Each of these has its own unique set of characteristics shown below.

Data Radio Modem Systems

Raveon has many products for Private Radio Networks, and License Free ISM bands.  Private networks are reliable, secure, and low cost.  The RV-M7 and RV-M21 data radio modems can be used to crate a 100+ square mile SCADA system.

The Tech Series modem with GPIO interface (See above) works on private wireless networks in VHF, UHF or ISM bands. The GPIO interface can be used to measure voltages, monitor switches, turn lights on or off, turn relays on or off, or measure temperatur es. Also built into it is an accelerator to measure the angle or motion of the product. Use our local or over-air commands to manage it, or utilize MODBUS commands.
