personal locator imageThe Atlas PL is a valuable component of an emergency response, search and rescue, wildfire fighting, or security team. Its many unique features make it superb for these types of applications because:The Atlas PL is part of Raveon’s RavTrack GPS tracking technology. It is compatible with the M7 GX transponder and RavTrack PC AVL software. For privacy and security, over-the air encryption is standard on every Atlas PL. For network versatility, the Atlas PL incorporates a 16-bit identification code, allowing up to 65,000 objects to be identified in one system and a “group code” (1-255). For wide-area coverage, all Atlas PLs may be set to store-and-forward messages from other RV-M7 or from other Atlas PL transponders. Although the RV-M7 is the easiest to use modem on the market, and makes the easiest to set up Automatic Vehicle Locations (AVL) system available, its re-programmability makes it extremely versatile. Most parameters within the Atlas PL may be re-configured to optimize it for specialized operations, extended range, or higher data throughput. The Atlas PL is configured using its built-in RS232 serial port.

Raveon provides a software program called Radio Manager to configure the M7. More Details…The Atlas PL has a number of different I/O drivers built into it, allowing it to work with a large range of displays, computers, and PC software applications. Like all of Raveon’s GPS RavTrack GPS tracking products, it has an open software interface, and details of all serial-port messaging is publicly available.

The Atlas PL has multiple applications in military training, and is already being used in bases around America. These trackers aid the in training operations by increasing the safety of the soldiers, and tracking their progress. The man down sensor inside each radio alerts the base station any time someone has gone down for a prolonged period of time, set by the controller. The PL’s incorporate a panic/emergency alert button, that immediately sends and alert back to the base station and controller.

Main Features

  • Long Range.  5-10 miles through a forest. 10-50 miles in open areas.
  • Real-time tracking. Quickly report GPS location.
  • Man-down sensor internal to it to transmit Man Down Alerts.
  • Vibration Sensor. It can report excessive vibration alerts.
  • All GPS transmissions include status as describe above, plus batter voltage, and product temperature.
  • Water proof. If the person falls into a lake or ocean, it still works when they get out of the water.
  • The Alert button quickly helps get someone to help the person who needs help.
  • Product temperature is monitored, and sent out periodically.
  • No network is required. No Internet connection is required. No cellular system is required.
  • Each Atlas can be sued to track many others.
  • Raveon low-cost Data Radio Modems  M7, M8, M6 can be used to track these Atlas radios.
  • Very rugged enclosure. It won’t break if someone falls down or steps on it. Very reliable.

A Miniature Atlas Version (MATLAS) researched recently

The ATLAS has been used by many military bases and ships.  Many people in the world used an ATLAS to be safe.

Raveon now drafted a new miniature version (MATLAS) that is exactly the same as the ATLAS, but 50% smaller and 50% lighter.

The MATLAS is a 2 watt radio version and it can be 3-5 watts if need high power.  The MATLAS also has a few new features added to it;

  • Blue tooth interface added if you want this also.
  • Miniature batteries with better energy so the MATLAS can go very long times.
  • It operates OK at higher temperature ranges.  Batteries can be changed if you want.
  • Miniature enclosure 50% smaller.
  • It can run at ISM band 915MHz license free if you need that band use.
  • Advanced Safety Features. Automatic “Man-Down”, manual alert, critical alert, and proximity alerts are transmitted along with position and status.
  • Extended Battery Life. 24 operation with very fast updates, and many weeks of operation with slower update rates.
  • Broad Range of Software Options. Raveon’s Ravtrack products are broadly supported by numerous software solutions, including Raveon’s RavTrack PC, CES PT3, Global Mapper, and Google Earth. See AVL Software
  • Secure. All position reports are 128-bit AES encrypted for secure communications.
  • Critical Alerts. A built-in “Man-Down” sensor along with a manually activated Alert button and a Critical Alert feature allow dispatch and command centers to quickly identify critical situations.
  • Built-In Battery and Charger. The ATLAS PL’s large 2200mAh battery operates the unit for days, and the ATLAS PL may be recharged from any 12V DC power source.
  • Extremely Rugged. The device uses Raveon’s “single-board” construction with GPS, modem, radio, and processor all secured on one circuit board. The light-weight aluminum housing is crush-proof and water-proof.
  • UHF radio channels. No public network access is needed. It works even when the cell systems don’t with no monthly fees.
  • Very Fast Updates. With up to 20 positions reports every second, you can track in truly real-time.
