There are Many Sensors for Remote Monitoring

This web page lists sensors that look like perfect things to remotely monitor with Raveon’s Data Radios with GPIO interfaces, or out Remote Autonomous Zone Node (RAZN) device.

The sensors noted here are compatible with Raveon’s Tech Series GPIO radio modems or Raveon’s Remote Autonomous Zone Node (RAZN).
You can Remotely monitor these sensors with Raveon’s SCADA solutions.

Application Note:  AN236_Thermotypes (pdf)  explains how to use Thermocouple Sensors. They can be monitored many miles away with RAZN wireless technology.

If you need Remote Sensors explained here, with Raveon’s Data Radios to work with them, many of these listed here are available from Raveon with the radio.

The sensors noted as “Re-Sale” here are available from Raveon. Many sensors shown here on this page make by Rel-Tek, and are available from Raveon or Rel-Tek.
Many of these innovative Rel-Tek sensors are accurate and economical, and when connected to Raveon’s wireless technology, they can me monitored over hundreds of square miles.

Current Sensors

1000:1 Current Transformer

Humidity Sensors

Humidity Sensors (HS) work in a variety of environments to provide humidity measurement solutions.

  • HS are for accurately and economically monitoring ambient or ducts for relative humidity (RH) and processes.
  • Output is 4-20mA current, driving a resistor in Raveon’s radio device’s analog interface.
  • HS improving safety and comfort in factories, buildings, offices, schools, mines, ships, labs, tanks, tunnels, vaults, sewers, and hospitals.

This Humidity Sensor image shown here is a Rel-Tek WetBoss sensor.  It is a complete stand-alone control systems available, including power supply, I.S. barriers and trip relays.

Gas Sensors

Dependable in underground mining and industrial sites.

  •  Can be calibrated for any of 80+ different gases.
  •  4-20 ma output with automatic line drop compensation.

This Ga Sensor image shown here is a Rel-Tek WetBoss sensor.  It has a digital meter available, reading 0-100%.
Raveon’s GPIO data radios can monitor this sensor and send the information wirelessly over long ranges.
The sensor has lowest current drain; only 76ma with full scale output.

The RV-N55-7 RAZN is optimized for this type of remote sensor monitoring and Autonomously controlling based on humidity.

Water Level Monitoring System

Water Level Monitoring Sensors (WLMS) are for monitoring pitot tube flow (gas or liquids) and can monitor liquid levels.

  • WLMS submersible DP pressure transducer on a length of cable is dropped down in a bore hole into an underground reservoir to monitor water level. 
  • Output level indicating water level is 4-20mA current, driving a resistor in Raveon’s radio device’s analog interface.
  • WLMS improving safety and comfort in mines, water pools, oil reservoir level,  tanks, reservoirs, and many other areas. 
  • Water level monitoring systems have the ability to remotely monitor the water level and pumping systems using Raveon’s wireless links.
  • WLMS  is often performed through  SCADA in large water systems, or alarm callout systems in smaller water rural systems. Our SCADA wireless links save lots of wire.

This Water Level Monitoring Sensors image shown here is a Rel-Tek WeterBoss*2000 sensor. It is a submersible version available for monitoring 0-35 ft water depth, even on a  long 1,500 foot cable down a bore hole.

Submersible Water Level Monitoring System

Submersible Water Level Monitoring Sensors are for monitoring  for monitoring pitot tube flow (gas or liquids) or for monitoring liquid levels (water pool or oil reservoir levels).

  • Unique design with replaceable pressure modules,
  • Output level indicating water level is 4-20mA current, driving a resistor in Raveon’s radio device’s analog interface.
  • Thousands of applications available from one small product. Runs on 12-30VDC, drawing about 35ma.
  • A submersible version is available for monitoring 0-35 ft water depth, even on a 1,500 ft cable down a bore hole.
  • Is often performed through  SCADA in large systems. Our SCADA wireless links save lots of wire.

Look for Fires, Monitor Carbon Monoxide

Fire Monitoring Sensors (FMS) are for monitoring levels of carbon monoxide to get an early warning of fire and toxic hazards.

  • FMS  Helps protect facilities and occupants in:  Plants/factories, mines, land fills, ships, tunnels, businesses, auto shops,
    offices, malls, theaters, arenas, incinerators, parking garages, hotels, buildings, churches, apartments, homes. 
  • Output FMS indicates monoxide on output level in 4-20mA current, to driving a resistor in Raveon’s radio device’s analog interface.
  • Water level monitoring systems have the ability to remotely monitor the water level and pumping systems using Raveon’s wireless links.
  • FMS is often performed using telephones or through  Telemetry alerts.

Thermocouple Temperature Sensors

Application Note:  AN236_Thermotypes (pdf)  explains how to use Thermocouple Sensors.

  • There are many types of Thermocouples using many different types of metal.
  • They can monitor high temperatures up to 2000°CZ and cold down to -300°C
  • Output voltage is small (-0.009V to +0.080V) base on temperature, so a high resolution sensor is needed to monitor it.

Monitor Combustible Gas

Gas Monitoring Sensors (GMS) are for monitoring concentration of combustible gas.

  • Rel-Tek‘s GasBoss sensor has been improved and updated over more than a decade.
  • It incorporates numerous innovations to assure state of art accuracy, dependability, stability, long life and ease of maintenance.
  • Output from  GSM indicates gas on output level in 4-20mA current, to connect to Raveon’s radio GPIO interface, or connect to the wireless Remote Autonomous Zone Node(RAZN).
  • Combustible gas monitoring systems have the ability to remotely monitor in a mine, house, boat, ship, greenhouse, aircraft hanger, ….

AwAir Gas Detection for Refuge Alternatives

Gas Detection for use in your Refuge Alternatives (emergency underground shelters.).

  • AwAirTM gas detection system manufactured by Rel-Tek Corporation monitors five gases (CH4, CO2, CO, O2 and H2)
  • This approval covers use as a stand-alone system for monitoring gob areas and hazardous mine locations.
  • Connect to Raveon’s radio GPIO interface, or connect to the wireless Remote Autonomous Zone Node(RAZN).
  • Gas sensors inside the XP control housing analyze the sequenced gas streams for air quality.

Tetrahydrothiophene Gas Sensor

Tetrahydrothiophene Gas Detection for use in your Refuge Alternatives (emergency underground shelters.).

  • The ToxiBoss unit is normally supplied with a NEMA-4X fiberglass and SS weatherproof housing.
  • Manufactured by Rel-Tek Corporation monitors gases.
  • It produces a linear 4-20ma-output signal; excitation 9.5-30VDC, drawing 50ma, 3-wire hookup.
  • Connectproduct’s output to Raveon’s radio GPIO interface, or connect to the wireless Remote Autonomous Zone Node(RAZN).
  • Gas sensors inside the XP control housing analyze the sequenced gas streams for air quality.
  • Gas range: 0-250 ppm depend upon cell 0-500 max; options to 2000 ppm. Requires at least 1% oxygen

Idler or Shaft Monitoring

Water Level Monitoring Sensors (WLMS) are for monitoring pitot tube flow (gas or liquids) and can monitor liquid levels.

    • Integrated module and probe for idler or shaft monitoring. The Sensor is easy installation, rugged, accurate, economical.

  • Monitoring wear or stress of transmission elements, e.g. for triggering maintenance.
  • LCD displays RPM on the sensor, plus message if over range. The sensor can have magnetic pickup. Magnetic showed. 
  • The sensor outputs 4-20ma analog out. 
  • It is important for electric power system to monitor electrical rotating machines involved in the production of electrical energy.
  • This can prolong the lifetime of the machines and reduce costs caused by unplanned downtimes and unnecessary maintenance

Remotely monitor Sensors with Raveon’s  Tech Series GPIO or a RAZN

Spotfire Flame Detector

The “Spot-Fire” is for detecting flames from early stage fires.

  • This sensor is packaged for easy mounting on a post or wall
  • The sensor outputs 4-20ma analog out to the radios with  Tech Series GPIO interface for sensors, or a RAZN  and can autonomously monitor sensors. 
  • It reacts within 5 or so seconds to flames from burning methane, propane, butane, gasoline, alcohol, paper, and every combustible material we’ve tried.

Remotely monitor Sensors with Raveon’s  Tech Series GPIO or a RAZN

Optical Sensors

Optical sensors can be used for may reasons.

  • Monitor the brightness of the lights.
  • Monitor people or animals walking in a certain area.
  • Look for Fire in an area.
  • Spot headlights on cars.
  • Turn off lights when the sun comes up.

Most versions have switched outputs, so you can connect them to the RAZN’s input pin, or to the Tech Series radio modem with GPIO interface, to wirelessly monitor them in a remote area.
And the RAZN can use a light sensor to also Autonomously control something you want, base on the light, and also along with other inputs, sensors, and timers, the way you want.

Chlorine Sensor

Chlorine that is present as hypochlorous acid (HOCl) or the hypochlorite ion.

  • Monitor the brightness of the lights.
  • When chlorine is added to water, it reacts with organic materials and metals.
  • Chlorine gas monitor sensor has linear signal output 4-20mS.
  • Chlorine gas exposure can lead to long term health problems. Monitor Chlorine to save health.
  • This ToxiBoss sensor shown here is a wall mounted gas sensor.
  • Can be serviced in place without having to disconnect power or to undertake a costly declassification of the area.

RAZN has reliable measurement of chlorine and bromine based disinfectants with sensors.  Autonomously control something you want, base on the sensor, and also along with other inputs, buttons, sensors, and timers, the way you want.
Systematic disinfection is essential in water treatment and legally required in many areas to protect people and systems. High doses of disinfectants can be toxic.
Sensors can monitor drinking water, process and reuse water, pool water or seawater to ensure regulation-compliant disinfection.
