Raveon Unveils Secure Real-Time GPS Tracking System
Raveon Technologies announced a unique Real-Time GPS tracking system utilizing licensed UHF frequencies, their M7 series GPS Transponder, and Raveon's own RavTrack PC(TM) AVL software application. "Real-Time" tracking is claimed by most every AVL provider, but Raveon's RavTrack(TM) system offers update rates and latency orders-of magnitude faster than other providers. Users experience enhanced situational awareness - unavailable with any other technology.
The RavTrack AVL system enables a user to track vehicles, people, or assets over an area of tens to hundreds of square miles. It does not use GPRS or any other public wireless network, so it works everywhere and is reliable even when public networks fail. RavTrack has the unique ability to allow all M7 GPS transponders to not only transmit their position, but also receive position and status from other units. This allows all M7 Transponders to be able to run RavTrack PC and see the location of all other M7s in the system.
Raveon's M7 Transponders feature the fastest position update rates in the industry (up to 20/second), with latency less than 1-second from reading to display. With this high-speed update capability, RavTrack is the fastest real-time tracking system of any commercial AVL system.
The RavTrack AVL system has many technological advantages over ordinary AVL systems. These include:
o Real-time - Position and status updates are available as quickly as every second. No other tracking system has as fast an update rate as RavTrack.
o Complete Solution - Everything needed to track a vehicle, person, or asset is provided. No secondary service such as Internet, cell-service, GPRS, Edge, SMS, or satellite service is needed.
o In-Vehicle Displays - RavTrack PC as well as various Garmin and Lowrance displays may be used to display location information. Users know where everyone else within radio range is located.
o No Monthly Fees - Because no external services are required, there are no recurring costs for a RavTrack system.
o TDMA - Raveon's unique TDMA implementation allows hundreds or even thousands of units to be tracked with very fast updates. Secure encryption of every transmission ensures privacy.
o Works Anywhere - RavTrack does not rely upon public wireless services, so RavTrack systems work in rural areas, open-mines, parks, mountains, foreign countries, and deserts.
Any image or bit-map may be imported into RavTrack PC to use as its base map. RavTrack PC runs on Windows XP or Vista PC. It logs system activity to an SQL database, prints reports by vehicle or by activity, alerts the operator to rule violations occur(speeding, geo-fences, proximity,...), and plots tracks on-screen.
The RavTrack AVL system is an ideal tool for first responders, public safety, emergency response, park rangers, construction supervisors, blue-force tracking, and airport flight side operations.
