Isolated IOs and Solenoid Driver RAZN  (RV-N55-5)

The RV-N55-5 RAZN is an RTU/PLC automated peripheral with many Isolated Inputs and Outputs.

This RV-N55-5 RAZN has 13 IO features, and 8 of them are totally Isolated from the RAZN and from each other.
Technical information about the IO terminal architecture is shown on the Terminal Information page..

Communicate with Raveon’s Data Radio modem inside this RAZN. TCP/IP Ethernet ports are available, and RS-485 serial ports are on all RAZNs.
If you don’t need Ethernet order an RV-N54-5 version. Same as the RV-N55-5 except the N54 has no Ethernet and slightly lower cost and power consumption.

SCADA Link

Wireless data radio transmits 4-20mA signals and discrete signals to matching radio receiver. The range up to 20+ Miles.

Drive a Solenoid with 2-Pins. The DSD switched voltage output drivers the solenoid, and Autonomous duration limitations in the RAZN will pulse the Solenoid correct.

Your PLC can control the Solenoid drivers, and RAZN takes MODBUS commands that can pulse a 2-Pin solenoid ON or OFF as your system wants.
And the current consumption during the Solenoid Pulse is RAZN monitored, and recorded in a register, you can read it or autonomously trigger ,or text, based on current draw.
If current is too <low, or too high>, you can monitor it by the RAZN, or the RAZN can autonomously turn something on or off to show you, or send a text message alert.

Long Range Wireless options are: narrow UHF or VHF channels, or license-free ISM band. Internal wireless modems within the RAZN can mesh RAZNs together.

To meet your needs, Raveon created this easy to use RAZN which can be a RTU or PLC, with wireless data links built into it, and many great IO features.
And it has more Programmable Logic Features within it (for Autonomous operation) than any other RTU or PLC in the world.

Use this as an RTU or PLC. You can control it to do what ever you want it to do, and it can also autonomously do what needs to be done.
This makes your system safer because it will do things if the controller or network fails.

Isolated ModBus RTU 4-20mA Monitoring

High Isolation Inputs And Outputs

RAZN uses a 12 bit differential voltage sensor to measure voltage.  It can also measure current and 4-20mA current with over 1M resolution.
Use this analog IO pins for the Sensors to Monitor   Detailed information about the sensor inputs is on the Terminal Information page..
And the Autonomous features can monitor high resolution sensors and autonomously control things the way you want.

AN236_Thermotypes (pdf)  Explains how to use Thermocouple Sensors. They can be monitored many miles away with RAZN wireless technology, and can Autonomously control things you want to control.
And you can connect a RAZN to your network to monitor Thermocouple Sensors, or look at a Display or GUI and see the temperature, or have the RAZN beep or flash a light base on Temperature.

The RV-N55-5 RAZN can be a RTU connected to a PLC using a Data Radio modem to communicate over many miles.

Status Recorder and Data Logging

A RAZN can be setup to record the status of inputs, outputs, communications, or whatever you want.  It monitors on-time, off-timer, pulse-count, and many other IO parameters.
A  EEPROM within the RAZN stores the data information you want, and no battery is required. Read it remotely via wireless link, or use the Ethernet interface.
Any register that monitors inputs, outputs, status, communications, timing, events, or whatever can be logged in to real later.

Automated Peripheral

Monitoring and Controlling using MODBUS messages. Communicate using  wires, Ethernet, or long-range wireless links. All methods are available.
And you can configure the RAZN to Autonomously monitor sensors and do what every you want Autonomously to keep your system safe.

Control Latching Solenoid

The RV-N55-5 can controls a latching 2-pin Solenoid, well managed by the RAZN.   SCADA controllers can do all the controls.
The RAZN can be setup to properly pulse the SD1 and SD2 pins to manage to Latching Solenoid. By default, they pulse at 150mS to turn it On or OFF.

Robust, Reliable and Protected

The IO pins have great electrostatic discharge (ESD) and over-voltage protection. DC power input is reverse and over-voltage protected.
Internal smart CPU has watchdog timer, data stored in EEPROM, and battery powered clock.
Long-range communications uses wireless instead long copper that will fail.

High Performance Interfaces

Ethernet, RS-485, USB, and many RF options.  RAZN wireless links are super long-range communication. 1/2W to 5W UHF, VHF; 50mW-1W ISM LoRa. Verify operation and quality of connection in the field from 1 to 50 miles. The RAZN can also communicate with Raveon’s data radio modems (RV-M6, RV-M8, RV-M7, RV-M50 …).  Use these interface for the Sensors to Monitor.

Real Time Clock (RTC)

The battery backed up inside the RAZN is for the RTC that keeps track of all time, milliseconds, seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years.
It can be used to trigger events, and also time events and stop them when the time is over.
Timer events can turn things on or off based upon any time status you prefer.

A Myriad of Ways to Use These

Point-to-Point: The two RAZNs can work together by themselves and control what you want in isolated areas.
You can use 2-200 of these RAZNs to do what you need to control in isolated areas.

RV-N55-5 Manage Latching Solenoids

To drive 2-Pin Latching Solenoids, up to 30 volts DC.  It pulses their ON pin, and OFF pin to control them.
It has many isolated digital inputs, outputs, voltage monitoring inputs, and isolated 4-20mA sensor inputs.

It has 2 isolated  Latching Solenoid Drivers.  An MODBUS command can be used to
send a message into the RAZN to pulse the ON pin, or the OFF pin at the duration you want to pulse it at.
Autonomous features can be setup to limit the pulse duration time, and also limit the maximum on-time duration.

To control a Solenoid :
ON: DSD A is positive, DSD B is Negative. and this causes the solenoid to turn ON
OFF: DSD B is positive, DSD A is Negative. and this causes the solenoid to turn OFF

The isolated Input Voltage is switched around to pulse the solenoid, and the VPG ground current draw is monitored by an isolated current sensor.
The isolated voltage input IAI can be used to monitor in voltage coming in to drive the Solenoids.

Here is the architecture of 2-pin latching solenoid:
A positive DC voltage pulse turns it on, and an reverse negative pulse turns it off.

RV-N55-9 Can Drive 3-Pin Solenoids.

The RV-N55-5 has Isolated IOs and Drives Solenoids that have 2-Pins.
If you need to control Solenoids that have 3-Pins (On, Off, and GND) use the RV-N55-9 version.
There are analog input sensors, and two isolated digital inputs for use in remote areas and wireless links.

Ethernet interface is an option, but most of these miniature SCADA terminals don’t need Ethernet.
RS-485 is available on this, VHF, UHF, or ISM band data radios can be incorporated into the RAZN.
